About
Babu P George joined the Department of Tourism Management, College of Business, of the University of Southern Mississippi as an Assistant Professor in the Fall of 2007. Previously, he was a lecturer at the School of Management of Pondicherry University, India, and the Faculty of Management Studies, Goa University, India, for about six years.
As a doctoral student, George was a recipient of the UGC Senior Research Fellowship, India. He has contributed to academic journals such as Journal of Travel Research, Journal of Hospitality Marketing and Management, Health Marketing Quarterly, Community Development Journal, Journal of Identity and Migration Studies, Journal of In-service Education, European Journal of Tourism Research, ASEAN Journal of Hospitality and Tourism, Tourism: An International Interdisciplinary Journal, International Journal of Social Economics, Journal of Applied Research in Economic Development, International Journal of Bank Marketing, International Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Administration, Journal of Tourism Studies, Journal of Travel and Tourism Research, Tourism Review, Journal of Business Ethics and Organizations Studies, Journal of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, Journal of Korean Academy of Marketing Sciences, Amfiteatru Economic, Tourismos: An International Multi-Disciplinary Journal of Tourism, Asia-Pacific Journal of Environment and Development, The Innovation Journal, etc. His research papers have been accepted for presentation and publication in many international conferences. George has authored three books entitled “Tourism Marketing”, “Holidays, Holiday Attachment, and Customer Loyalty in Tourism” and “International Tourism: Geography and Developmental Perspectives”. He is also the editor of two books: “Advancements in Tourism Theory and Practice” and “Tourists and Tourism”. These are in addition to the occasional contributions made by him in the popular press. Curently, George is the Managing Editor of Journal of Tourism: An International Research Journal of Travel and Tourism. His current research interests are e-tourism and tourism strategies.
George is a member of the Boards of Studies and Examination Councils of many Indian universities in the areas of Marketing, Management, and Tourism, and is a reviewer for many noted international journals. He has been accorded membership in a number of scholarly and professional organizations as well. His administrative experience include an year of wardenship at Pondicherry University, India and a year of admission coordination of the MBA program at Goa University, India. He also worked as an MIS Designer at Creative Solutions, Kerala, India for about a year. He also works on consulting projects.
